QBE has been present in Fiji for over a century. It established an agency in Suva in 1899, followed by a branch in 1906. In 1978, Queensland Insurance (Fiji) Limited was formed as a subsidiary of QBE. The company changed its name to QBE Insurance (Fiji) Limited in 2004. Today, QBE is the largest general insurer in Fiji, and it has become significantly more involved in professional indemnity, directors and officers liability, and marine cargo insurance.
