COVID-19 update: Workers Compensation

We’re taking some important actions in our Workers Compensation team in response to the COVID-19. We’ve taken these steps to ensure we’re responding to our customer and partner needs as the situation evolves.

Organised for success

We’ve set up a COVID-19 response team comprised of technical, legal and health experts. They will review all COVID-19 Workers Compensation claims in line with the legislative requirements of each state, while keeping all parties informed.

Working from home

We understand that many of our customers are currently transitioning their employees to work from home on a large scale and this is creating some unique issues from a risk perspective. We have created a number of resources which can help explain their WHS Duty of Care and also provide some guidance to help inform their “work from home” approach.

COVID-19 webinar leadership series

We’re currently developing a webinar series for you and your customers to assist you in setting up a work from home workforce. This includes support for managers to lead this change as well as information about how to create a virtual risk culture and maintain a productive and safe workforce.

Employers COVID-19 business coaching helpline

We want to help leaders set up and manage their teams to ensure a productive, healthy and safe workplace during Covid-19.

We’ve partnered with The Jonah Group to provide our People Risk customers with business support and coaching while they navigate COVID-19 situations.

What we are doing for your employees who already have a Workers Compensation claim with us

Managing anxiety - We recognise it’s a stressful time for employees who currently have an active claim and will be providing a webinar for them to participate in, providing tips to support any additional anxiety they may be experiencing due to COVID-19.

Claims pharmacy – QBE’s partnership with Claims Pharmacy means injured workers who require medication don’t need to go out to get it as it will be delivered to them.

Remote servicing – We already have a number of remote services available for injured workers to support with their recovery including ARC and Navigator. We are currently setting up other allied health services to support their recovery.

Navigator – is available to injured workers and it helps them deal with the stress of an injury and will continue to support them with the additional COVID-19 factors. Navigator is a proven independent program that assists to identify psychosocial factors that impact someone’s ability to recover from an injury. The intervention of health professionals can help the individual stay on track and return to work as planned.
