CTP reforms

The New South Wales Government is reforming the CTP Green Slip scheme to better support people injured on our roads and to reduce the cost of Green Slips for vehicle owners.

The Motor Accident Injuries Act 2017 was passed by the New South Wales Parliament on 30 March 2017 and commenced on 1 December 2017.

QBE supports the reforms and is working with the State Insurance Regulatory Authority (SIRA), to implement the necessary changes.

General information can be found on the SIRA website.

Changes you need to be aware of:

  • claims and benefit changes
  • price reductions for Green Slips
  • Green Slip refunds.

How will this affect you?

Claims and benefit changes

The reforms ensure people injured in motor accidents receive fast access to compensation through weekly income support, treatment and care. The focus of the reforms is on rehabilitation of injured road users and a return to good health as soon as possible.

More information is available from the SIRA website.

Price reductions for Green Slips

Insurers provide a competitive market of Green Slip prices which are monitored and approved by SIRA.

Insurers reduced Green Slip prices from 1 December 2017 based on New South Wales Government CTP reforms and direction.

More information is available from the SIRA website.

Green Slip refunds

SIRA has developed a pro rata refund calculation for eligible customers whose Green Slip was still current at 1 December 2017.

An efficient refund process for eligible customers* is currently being developed by SIRA.

The easiest way to see if you are eligible and to claim the refund is online from Service NSW.

More information on Green Slip refunds can be found on the SIRA website.

*QBE will directly communicate and pay refunds to fleets with more than 50 vehicles.
