Information about Tropical Cyclone Debbie

With Tropical Cyclone Debbie approaching the North Queensland coastline and expected to bring destructive winds, abnormally high tides, widespread rainfall and flooding, we’d like to let all our customers in the affected areas know we are thinking of you and hope you and your families all remain safe.

It’s important that you follow advice of the local authorities, but there are some additional steps you can take to ensure the safety of yourselves and your property on our website.

QBE is currently monitoring the weather system and its potential to cause damage to motor vehicles, private and commercial property. We have initiated our Catastrophe Management Plan, and will be mobilising our assessors, to ensure we can support you as quickly as possible should any damage occur.

If you need to make a claim due to storm damage, please contact us as soon as you’re safe and able to do so.

While our assessors can’t enter affected areas until emergency services declare it safe to do so, notifying us of your claim as soon as possible helps us speed up the claims process to get you back on your feet sooner. We’ll have additional claims support teams in place to help manage the expected high volumes.

Please remember:

  • Always follow the advice and direction of emergency services
  • Never try to drive through flood-affected areas
  • For general help in floods and storms, ring the SES on 132 500
