Information for customers in preparation for storm season 2017-18
Today we officially enter the Australian Summer, which means storm season is upon us. Following the recent heavy downfalls in South-East Queensland and record rainfalls forecast for much of Victoria, it’s a timely reminder for all our customers to be prepared.
For our Victorian customers, we’re thinking of you and hope you and your families remain safe.
We’d like to remind our customers across the country that it’s important that you follow advice of the local authorities, but there are some additional steps you can take to ensure the safety of yourselves and your property on our website.
QBE is currently monitoring the weather system and its potential to cause damage to motor vehicles, private and commercial property. We’ll be mobilising our assessors, to ensure we can support you as quickly as possible should any damage occur.
If you need to make a claim due to storm damage, please contact us as soon as you’re safe and able to do so.
While our assessors can’t enter affected areas until emergency services declare it safe to do so, notifying us of your claim as soon as possible helps us speed up the claims process to get you back on your feet sooner. We’ll have additional claims support teams in place to help manage the expected high volumes.
- Always follow the advice and direction of emergency services
- Never try to drive through flood-affected areas
- For general help in floods and storms, ring the SES on 132 500.
We cover storm damage under the following policies:
- Home building
- Home contents
- Motor vehicle
- Pleasure craft
If you are unsure whether your policy covers you for flood, please contact us to check. QBE pays all eligible claims for insured events listed in the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) and Policy Wording. If you need another copy, please let us know.
How to claim
If you’re insured directly with QBE, call us on 133 QBE (133 723) and press 2 for Claims.
If you bought your policy from an intermediary or your financial institution, contact them to make your claim.
It’s ok if you don’t know your policy details when you contact us; with your name and address we’ll find it for you. Alternatively, contact your intermediary if your insurance has been placed with one of our brokers.
