QBE joins the United Nations Global Compact

QBE Insurance Group (QBE) has signed on as a participant of the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative, the United Nations (UN) Global Compact, pledging to support its Ten Principles on human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.

Viv Bower, Group Executive Corporate Affairs & Sustainability said: “We are very pleased to be pledging our support of the United Nations Global Compact and are committed to making its Ten Principles part of our strategy, culture and day-to-day operations at QBE.

“At QBE we are continuing to progress our commitment to sustainability and look forward to working collaboratively with the Global Compact Network Australia on projects which advance the broader development goals of the United Nations, particularly the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).”

Launched in 2000, the mandate of the UN Global Compact is to guide and support the global business community in advancing UN goals and values through responsible corporate practices. Currently there are over 12,000 business signatories, based in over 160 countries, representing nearly every industry sector and business size.
