What to do when faced with a loss

The length of time that it takes to settle a claim will depend on the nature of the exposure and its complexity. You can take comfort knowing that QBE’s claims services team will help you through the process – it is part of our specialist insurance solutions promise.

A straightforward property or motor claim might be settled in a reasonably short period of time. In contrast, a professional negligence case might take years before reaching the courts.

Although different claims management processes apply depending on the area of risk, there are some fundamentals that always apply to help ensure the most effective outcome. These include:

• Notify your local QBE operation in the Pacific Islands as your insurance provider as soon as possible. Simply download the relevant claim form from this site and submit it directly to our claims office or via your intermediary.
• Notify, again as soon as possible, your insurance broker or agent as your insurance adviser.
• Complete all required sections of the relevant claim form and supply all required information and supporting documents when lodging your claim with QBE or your insurance adviser.
• Keep a copy of your claim form and associated information.

Claims Philosophy

As an insurance company, we expect to pay claims. Our premiums reflect the degree of risk, the probability of a claim and the terms of cover provided. In general, the wider the cover provided, the higher the premium.
