Starting from 02 October, Excess and commission self-adjustment was rolled out to facilitate the option of premium fine-tuning with ease.
What are the newly added functions?
- Allow adjusting Own damage and Third-Party Property Damage excess by choosing the adjustment value. Applicable to the private vehicle - comprehensive policies (Non-Super Car).
- Enable the commission reduction to fine-tune the premium. Applicable to all motor classes insurance.

Split EC Rates on SME Business Insurance Solution (NEW)
With effect from 18 September, a new calculation method is applied to the EC premium of SME Business Insurance Solution (NEW). This should improve our competitiveness in the market significantly and allow us all to capture more wins.
EC premium for Clerical vs Other Staff will be calculated in split rates. Hence you may obtain a lower premium if the insured mainly employed clerical staff. On the other hand, a higher overall premium will be quoted while the insured mainly employed manual workers.

Important Reminder:
Entering the occupation details accurately is extremely important.
This new calculation method (Split EC Rates) will be applied on or after 18 September 2022. The changes in different policy status are as follow:
- New Business: The new calculation method will be applied to EC premium.
- Endorsement and Declaration: EC premium calculation will continue to reflect rating based on the inception date of a policy.
- Renewal Business: The new calculation method will be applied to EC premium.

Kindly note that there is rising inflation globally, including in Hong Kong and Macau. Therefore, we ask you to review the sum insured amount of the properties insured under the policy with the insured, including rebuild, repair, the replacement costs of assets and the impact of subsequent business interruption. To avoid under-insurance, uninsured exposure or delay in loss adjustment, it is our responsibility to remind the insured of this important note to ensure the risks are well and sufficiently protected.
Meanwhile, a notice of inflation will be added to the RENEWAL NOTICE on Motor, Property and Engineering policies.
