Transfer of the insurance business of QBE General Insurance (Hong Kong) Limited Macau Branch to QBE Hongkong & Shanghai Insurance Limited Macau Branch

Important Information

This website provides information about the proposed Transfer of general insurance business carried on in Macau by QBE General Insurance (Hong Kong) Limited (“QGI”) (operating in Macau through its registered Macau Branch (“QGI Macau Branch”) to QBE Hongkong & Shanghai Limited (” HKSI”) (operating in Macau through its registered Macau Branch (“HKSI Macau Branch”), both of which are QBE Group entities (the “Transfer”).

The Transfer has been approved by the Macau Chief Executive under Chief Executive Dispatch no. 130/2024. The proposed Transfer effective date is 1 October 2024.

Please check-in on this page as it may be updated from time to time to reflect key milestones met in relation to this Transfer, as well as displaying important information to the Transfer for your reference.

The transferred portfolio comprises all general insurance policies* underwritten by QGI Macau Branch, including any endorsements or amendments thereto, under which there is still potential liability for claims.  

*General insurance policies includes : Accident (personal and occupational), Sickness (short term), Land vehicles, Goods in transit, Fire and natural forces, Damage to property, Motor vehicle liability, General liability, Credit (commercial risks), Suretyship, Miscellaneous (financial loss), Legal expenses.

The Transfer has been approved by the Macau Chief Executive under Chief Executive Dispatch no. 130/2024. Upon the effective date of the Transfer, the insurance policies and liabilities within the scope of the Transfer will automatically transfer to and become the responsibility of HKSI Macau Branch. The proposed date on which the Transfer will become effective is 1 October 2024.

Submit a claim

If you wish to make a claim under a QGI Macau Branch policy, please submit the claim here [email protected]. After the Transfer your claim under a QGI Macau Branch policy can still be submitted to HKSI Macau Branch.

Existing claim

All claims under the transferred policies, which are currently being dealt with by QGI Macau Branch will be handled by, or on behalf of, HKSI Macau Branch. If you have an existing claim, it will continue to be dealt with by QGI Macau Branch until the valid date of the proposed Transfer. You will not need to take any action, as we will arrange the proposed Transfer. The proposed Transfer does not impact your relationships with your intermediary (if applicable). If you have a claim that is being dealt with by QGI Macau Branch at the time of the proposed Transfer, there is no change to your communication with our Claims department. We will also write to you with additional HKSI Macau Branch’s contact details.
