QBE North America Launches The Influencer, a New Media Liability Coverage for Companies Partnering with Influencers
2025-08-13T00:00:00Z
NEW YORK, August 13, 2025 – QBE North America today announced the expansion of its media liability protection, offering enhanced coverage for companies that partner with influencers to promote their products and services. The Influencer by QBE provides coverage that helps fill a critical gap in the market by protecting companies from risks associated with influencer-generated content. The Influencer includes a short learning module and verification process that equips influencers with essential media law principles—helping brands reduce exposure while reinforcing responsible content creation.
“Companies face risks when engaging influencers to promote their brands,” said Chris Cooper, senior vice president, U.S. Head of Media & Professions, QBE North America. “If an influencer inadvertently includes unlicensed material in branded content, the company being promoted could be exposed to legal action. The Influencer by QBE helps mitigate those risks.”
Many companies lack a standardized process for ensuring that influencers are conversant with intellectual property and advertising laws. QBE’s innovative media liability product requires influencers to complete a learning module that includes an educational video covering advertising best practices and legal principles such as copyright, trademark, defamation and right of publicity. Once completion is verified, the influencer is added to the company’s program. The policy then provides protection for both the company and the influencer against liability arising from the influencers’ promotional content.
“Large companies often work with dozens of influencers throughout the year on a variety of campaigns,” added Cooper. “This enhanced media liability coverage offers a proactive approach to managing the risks of influencer marketing, allowing companies and influencers to operate with greater confidence and protection.”
The Influencer by QBE is currently available to policyholders and their influencers within the United States.
