QBE 2025 Event

To enhance support for general insurance products and administrative processes, QBE Hong Kong will hold “QBE GI Week” on the following dates, where our team will be on-site to answer your financial advisors’ questions:

Support Week Dates and Times:

  • April 14 to 16, 2025 (Monday to Wednesday)
    o Time: 2:30pm to 5:00pm
  • Mid-May 2025
    o Time: 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

In addition to the QBE team on site, we also arranged for the underwriting team and first-time claim case analysis to answer agents’ questions. In addition, to further support financial advisors, QBE Hong Kong will set up a QBE GI booth in the lobby of Manulife Tower in mid-May 2025 (9:00 am - 5:30 pm) and conduct a questionnaire survey. After completing the registration and questionnaire, you will receive a QBE exquisite gift. QBE team and underwriting specialists will also be on site to answer any questions.

Promotion Campaign

Last month, it was announced that the 10% discount campaign on employees’ compensation insurance (ECI) premiums would be extended to December 31, 2025. Agents issue new ECI policies and submit renewal notices for existing company will enjoy a 10% discount on the ECI premium based on the renewal notice's premium of existing company . This promotion is applicable to various industries and aims to assist agents in winning more new business opportunities, and achieve great results together.

*Eligible industries do not include the industries of companies referred to the underwriting department.

Insuring Process:

  1. Issue quote in Qnect:
    • Issue Quote via Qnect, and upload the “renewal notice” from other insurers in Qnect and remark “EC Price Match” in the Qnect referral to underwriters.
  2. Issue quote in non Qnect:
    • Remark “EC Price Match” in the Qnect referral to underwriters.
    • Attach the “renewal notice” and send to [email protected].
    • For gross premium over HK$30,000, please copy your RM in the email.

Product Update

Domestic Helper insurance has been update outpatient services, UMP relative service and insured age. The following is the update content.

Effective Date Update Content
16 February 2025 Insured age limit up to 70 years old.
1 March 2025 Domestic helper insurance policy ( new or renewal policy) will be changed from the UMP panel to allowing you to select outpatient services of your choice. UMP medical card cannot be used.
Relative UMP service cannot be used include health check-up and vaccination at special prices.

We are pleased to announce a significant enhancement to our Golfer’s Worldwide Protector Insurance Package. Effective from 1 April, the age limit for coverage has been uplifted from 70 to 85 years old. We believe this enhancement will better meet the needs of our clients.

QBE regularly offers product training for Manulife agents, enabling them to gain in-depth knowledge of product features and advantages to enhance their competitiveness in the market. To ensure that policy notifications can be delivered to customers in a timely manner, if the policy does not belong to the agent, please update the correct customer email address in Qnect as soon as possible. Also, make sure to enter the correct customer email address when issuing policies in the future.

Following the initial launch of our SME research in February, we are pleased to share the second and final instalment of our findings. This latest instalment sheds light on Hong Kong multiple business risks and opportunities, including workplace safety and health (WSH), talent retention, and insurance-related issues. As the backbone of Hong Kong’s economy, SMEs continue to demonstrate resilience, but gaps in risk management and preparedness remain.

Key findings from the survey:

  • Around one-third of businesses are concerned about the financial fallout from business interruption, loss of key staff, and equipment breakdown — while only about one quarter hold insurance policies that cover these.
  • Attention to workplace safety and health issues remains high, with more communicating their coverage and benefits to employees.
  • The proportion of Hong Kong SMEs with a staff retention plan has notably increased, with increased pay the number one strategy for keeping staff.
  • Hong Kong SMEs are a major employer of workers aged65 or older, with 49% saying their workforces are made up by 10% or more of this demographic.
