2024

  • On 31 July 2024, QBE Asia Pacific Holdings Limited (QBE), sold its interests in QBE Insurance (Vanuatu) Limited to Alpha Insurance Limited. Please note that QBE Insurance (Vanuatu) Limited is no longer affiliated with QBE, their affiliates, or controlled entities.

2023

  • On 31 October 2023, QBE Asia Pacific Holdings Limited (QBE), sold its interests in QBE (PNG) Limited and QBE Insurance (PNG) Limited to Alpha Insurance Limited

2013

  • QBE acquires Mitsui Sumitomo in Papua New Guinea
  • QBE Papua New Guinea receives the Good Corporate Citizenship Award from the Department of Labour and Industrial Relations

2012

  • QBE acquires the general insurance business of AFA Limited in Vanuatu
  • Our operation in New Caledonia, QBE’s first outpost in the Pacific region, celebrates its 125th anniversary

2004

  • Queensland Insurance (Fiji) Limited rebrands to QBE Insurance (Fiji) Limited

2001

  • QBE acquires the Zurich Pacific Insurance Company in Papua New Guinea

1998

  • QBE acquires the General Accident Insurance portfolio in Papua New Guinea

1994

  • QBE Insurance (International) establishes a branch office in New Caledonia
  • QBE Insurance (International) acquires Zurich Australian Company Limited in Solomon Islands and sets up a branch office

1993

  • QBE Insurance (International) establishes a branch office in French Polynesia

1987

  • The branch office in Vanuatu becomes a locally incorporated company: QBE Insurance (Vanuatu) Limited

1974

  • Queensland Insurance (Fiji) Limited forms, as a subsidiary of QBE

1972

  • QBE cements its nearly half a century presence in Vanuatu by opening a branch office in Port Vila

1971

  • QBE enters the French Polynesia market via an agency

1920s

  • QBE enters Vanuatu market

1899

  • QBE enters the Fiji and Papua New Guinea markets through local agencies

1887

  • QBE establishes a presence in New Caledonia through a marine agency of the North Queensland Insurance Company in Noumea
