PRESS RELEASE

QBE New Zealand announces new partnership with Conservation Volunteers New Zealand

QBE Insurance New Zealand (QBE) is proud to announce a new partnership with Conservation Volunteers New Zealand (CVNZ), one of New Zealand’s leading volunteer conservation organisations.

This exciting collaboration aims to support CVNZ with its ambition to drive hands-on environmental action and contribute towards biodiversity restoration and climate resilience efforts across the country.

Through the partnership, QBE is not just providing funding — but will be actively engaged in helping CVNZ with its mission to restore rivers, streams and wetlands by providing QBE’s people, customers, and partners with opportunities to engage in volunteering initiatives that aim to strengthen climate resilience in local communities.

Jonathan Groves, Chief Executive Officer of QBE New Zealand & Pacific, shared his enthusiasm for the partnership.

“Our environment is one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s greatest Taonga (treasures), and taking care of it is key to ensuring our communities remain strong and resilient. Teaming up with CVNZ provides an exciting opportunity for our people, partners, and customers to participate in hands-on conservation efforts, collaborating with dedicated experts to help safeguard the natural spaces that are important to us all."

The partnership will kick off with support for two major CVNZ-led restoration projects: the Ōtākaro Avon River Corridor (OARC) in Christchurch and the Papakura Stream restoration in Auckland.

Aaron Jaggar, General Manager of Conservation Volunteers New Zealand shares, "We're thrilled to partner with QBE in our mission to restore and protect Aotearoa New Zealand’s environment and encourage more people to take action for nature. This support will allow us to significantly increase our impact and engage even more members of the community in planting and restoration activities. We can’t wait to see QBE volunteers making a real impact in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington, and Ōtautahi Christchurch."
