QBE appoints Group Chief Risk Officer

QBE Insurance Group Limited today announced the appointment of Fiona Larnach to the role of Group Chief Risk Officer.
Fiona is an experienced leader who has worked across risk management, finance and treasury for almost thirty years. She has held a number of senior executive roles at major financial services companies in Australia and the UK and was most recently the Chief Risk Officer for Barclays UK. Prior to this, she was the Chief Risk Officer, Retail Banking for the Commonwealth Bank of Australia and before this, a Risk Advisory Partner at Ernst & Young consulting to insurance, banking and wealth management clients. She has also worked at Westpac Bank, AMP, GE Mortgage Insurance and Citibank.
Interim Group CEO, Richard Pryce, said that risk management is fundamental to QBE as a company.
“We have worked hard in recent years to build our risk capability with good risk management practices now firmly embedded in our day-to-day operations.”

Ms Larnach will join QBE in March 2021 and be based in the company’s head office in Sydney, Australia. She will form part of the Group Executive Committee and report to Mr Pryce.
This appointment follows Peter Grewal’s decision to return to the UK.

This appointment is subject to regulatory approval.
