DEBRA United Kingdom
DEBRA is a national, not-for-profit, volunteer-based organisation funding research and healthcare into Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), a rare and devastating group of genetic skin conditions that cause the skin to blister and tear at the slightest touch. The debilitating nature of EB means that patients, and those who care for them, often experience significant financial hardship, particularly if an EB sufferer is too ill to work or has a carer that has had to give up paid work to care for them.
With funding help from the QBE Foundation, DEBRA will assist to improve the lives of people living with EB by providing access to financial advice, guidance and support, along with easy to access, quality assured tools and information such as budget planners, benefit entitlement calculators and advice from trusted resources regarding income maximisation. With the QBE Foundation’s support, those affected by EB will be able to start proactively tackling their own financial queries and issues and access the support they need. Our aim is to directly improve financial inclusion among the EB community.
