Diversity and Inclusion QBE Scholarship at St. Johns North America

The QBE Scholarship for Diversity and Inclusion in Insurance at St John’s University, New York, was designed to inspire and empower LBGTQ+, People of colour, veterans and female identifying students who have demonstrated a commitment to pursuing careers in insurance. 

Awards are designated for undergraduate students earning a B.S. in Actuarial science or Risk Management and Insurance or M.S./M.B.A. Program students studying the disciplines of Actuarial Science, Risk Management, Risk Analytics or Enterprise Risk Management.

The scholarship assists in protecting vulnerable communities, enabling financial resilience and education. In 2020, six students, were offered the $5,000 scholarship, three of which identified as Black, Hispanic or Native American, with aspirations of improving their community’s access to insurance. The three other students aim to use the scholarship to diversify the insurance industry and provide new insights and opportunities for future customers. 

By setting up this scholarship, QBE aims to empower and promote economic and social inclusion of all irrespective of age, sex, race, ethnicity or economic or other status, aligning with UN SDG 10, Reduced Inequalities.
