QBE New Zealand announces head office move
QBE Insurance New Zealand today announced its Auckland-based head office would move to the iconic 125 Queen St building, which will become known as the QBE Centre.
More than two hundred QBE team members will be housed in the purpose-built 2166m2 space, split over three levels of the 30-level building.
QBE NZ General Manager, Bill Donovan, said the move was a significant one for the global insurer.
“While QBE has been part of the New Zealand business community for over 130 years, it’s important we continue to evolve to meet the ever-changing expectations of our people and our customers and partners,” Mr Donovan said.
“Making life better for our people is the ultimate reason for moving and we needed a site that would allow greater collaboration, enable our team to work in an agile way and in a modern space with wonderful amenities for staff, all of which we found at 125 Queen St.
“As one of the leading business insurers in New Zealand, it also made sense that we stay in the heart of the Auckland CBD, in close proximity to many of our broker partners.
“We were delighted we were able to take up the anchor tenancy and naming rights of the building, which will help reinforce our brand and reputation as one of this country’s leading business insurers.”
The building itself is unique, with a heritage façade dating from 1867, while QBE’s own heritage dates back to 1890 in New Zealand.
Combining the shared history with a modern work space means there is a great juxtaposition of the old and the new.
The transformation of 125 Queen Street is well underway and the move in date for QBE Insurance is likely to be mid-April.
QBE will join a number of high quality tenants already present including MMC, Accenture, Grimshaw & Co, Methanex and Hong Kong Airlines.
