QBE and the Sydney Swans kicking goals for charity

The Sydney Swans Foundation and the QBE Foundation are set to score big this weekend thanks to a pledge from QBE to donate $1,000 for every Sydney Swans goal kicked at their match against the Gold Coast Suns this Saturday.

The ‘QBE Goals for Good’ initiative will see raised funds split evenly between the Sydney Swans Foundation and the QBE Foundation, the respective charitable arms of the football club and global insurer, to support the charitable efforts and partnerships of both organisations.

Once distributed the funds raised will bring QBE’s philanthropic contributions to charity partners and causes to more than $600,000 for the year to date.

QBE Foundation Chair Bettina Pidcock said the QBE ‘Goals for Good’ initiative was made possible through QBE and the Sydney Swans’ shared passion for supporting important community causes.

“The Sydney Swans have long supported us in our efforts to make a difference to the communities we operate within, helping us bring to life our mission to support people in the community to overcome disadvantage, strengthen their abilities, and live more independently, successfully and productively,” she said.

“This weekend’s ‘Goals for Good’ initiative raises funds that will go toward truly worthwhile causes and is a fantastic example of the way we work so proudly with the Swans to achieve this objective.”

Ms Pidcock said QBE is also using the match as an opportunity to give back to the individuals who work so hard for the charity partners of the QBE Foundation, hosting volunteers and employees from the organisations at the highly anticipated game.

“Excitingly, our charity partners will join us in the clubroom this weekend to cheer on the Swans at this very special game and be treated to a much-deserved day of fun as a small way to acknowledge the incredible contributions they make to the very worthy causes they champion.”

Sydney Swans CEO and Managing Director Andrew Ireland said ‘Goals for Good’ was an outstanding initiative.

“QBE is a long-standing and much-valued part of our Sydney Swans family and this is just one example of how they work with us to support the community,” Ireland said.
“We’re looking forward to an exciting Saturday afternoon of football at the SCG and hope the team can finish with a big bag of goals knowing that each one contributes to QBE’s ‘Goals for Good’ pledge.”

The game between the Sydney Swans and the Gold Coast Suns will be held at 2pm Sydney time at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
