QBE appoints Chief Risk Officer for Australia and New Zealand division
QBE Australia and New Zealand has announced that Mark Baxter has been appointed to the position of Chief Risk Officer and joins today, 26 April 2017.
Mark has recently returned from the UK where he was Prudential’s Chief Risk Officer for the UK and Europe and an Executive Committee Member.
Prior to this, Mark was responsible for the global financial risk and actuarial function across the UK, South Africa and North America with the Old Mutual Group and has also held a number of executive positions at Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) and Australian Prudential Regulatory Authority (APRA).
He replaces Anna Gould, who takes on the new position of Head of Claims Technical and Governance for QBE Australia and New Zealand, where she will bring greater rigour to the risk culture in claims.
QBE Chief Executive Officer Pat Regan said: “I am delighted to welcome Mark to QBE. A skilled senior executive with global experience across insurance, banking, asset management and superannuation, Mark joins us at a time of heightened scrutiny for our industry.
“His extensive experience will guide us to further strengthen our risk management practices and reinforce a sound risk management culture.
“I’d also like to thank Anna for all she has done throughout her time in the role and look forward to continuing to work with her.”
Mark said: “I am delighted to be joining QBE and look forward to working with the team to enhance the alignment of risk reporting and business strategy to ensure we’re meeting the standards the community expects of us.”
