QBE helps wildlife donations soar with Birds for Good initiative

QBE Australia has today announced a total of $14,534.20 has been raised through its Birds for Good initiative, which will go towards amplifying the wildlife conservation efforts at long-time partner Taronga Conservation Society Australia (Taronga).

The Birds for Good initiative ran throughout the month of October with the insurer pledging to match all public donations made at the popular QBE Free-flight Bird Show. The dollar-match pledge means QBE has been able to increase the overall donation amount to $29,068.40, nearly double the amount raised in October last year.

All proceedings will be directed towards the Taronga Foundation, helping to fund important projects including Taronga’s breeding efforts and restoring resilient landscapes for the Regent Honey Eater, one of Taronga’s ten legacy species which it’s dedicating the next decade to help conserve.

Added to last year’s Birds for Good fundraising efforts, QBE has now contributed a total of $22,378.05 towards Taronga’s important wildlife conservation work, on top of the generous public donations.

QBE’s Chief Marketing Officer, Sara Foale, said the Birds for Good campaign is a great way for the insurer to contribute towards the vital conservation efforts undertaken by Taronga’s dedicated staff, scientists and researchers.

“We’re incredibly proud of our 14-year partnership with the Taronga Conservation Society and our alignment to the iconic QBE Free-flight Bird Show, which once again proved to be a huge success with visitors awed by the array of fantastic birds and their abilities.

“The success of the show and the generosity of the public was directly reflected in the donation total we were able to match. The conservation work undertaken by Taronga is something we wholeheartedly support.”

Cameron Kerr, Taronga CEO said, “We are very grateful to QBE for this generous donation. Our organisation relies on the support of our partners, donors and the community in order to fund critical conservation initiatives both here in Australia and internationally”.
