QBE takes GOLD at the Asia Pacific Event Marketing Awards

QBE Insurance is delighted to announce its Swans360 virtual reality (VR) campaign won gold in the Best Use of Technology category at the 2018 Asia Pacific Marketing Events Awards in Singapore.

QBE took out the prestigious marketing award in a highly contested category, joining fellow category gold winners Cisco, Moet Hennessy, Unilever, Mercedes Benz and Prudential.

The Swans360 VR campaign was designed as a fan engagement tool to reawaken the QBE brand within its 32-year partnership with AFL football team, the Sydney Swans – which is one of the longest-standing in Australian sport.

The campaign signified a series of firsts, using VR technology to bring fans into the Sydney Swans’ exclusive inner sanctum, placing fans right into the team’s post-match huddle, and taking the technology out to the most remote Swan’s fans with unique SCG in game experience.

Organised by Marketing magazine, The Marketing Events Awards celebrates the ultimate in events marketing. It is the premier platform for event marketers, planners and agencies to showcase their creative excellence, successful strategy, and operational precision. Its mission is to elevate event marketing standards and practices across Southeast Asia.

The champions for 2018 were chosen by a jury made up of senior marketing experts from brands across the region.

QBE Australia and New Zealand’s Chief Customer Officer, Bettina Pidcock, said that winning the award was the cherry on top of an incredible initiative to reconnect with the Swan’s audience.

“The Swans360 VR campaign was a first for QBE and Sydney Swans alike, and we’re thrilled to have our work acknowledged through this award. While we do not produce our work with awards as a specific objective, they are important external acknowledgement of the quality of campaigns that we produce at QBE and we are extremely proud of our achievement.

“So many people across QBE were involved in making the Swans360 campaign a reality as it’s so much more integrated than just the VR film itself. Through this technology we managed to connect with a new age of fans from across the region.”
