Lauren Parker on her world champion year

Lauren Parker’s 2019 was a year to remember.

The professional paratriathlete was crowned world champion during an unforgettable performance in Lausanne, Switzerland where she came in two minutes ahead of her nearest competitor.

“My main goal for this year was World Championships. I put in a lot of hard work in training,” says Parker, who is a QBE Ambassador, about her performance last year.

“While it was a successful year for me, I had a lot of challenges, including major spinal cord surgery because of fluid build-up.”

Taking out first position in the year’s most important race was an outstanding effort.

“Winning the world champs was the most amazing feeling. Crossing that finish line in first position and winning by a few minutes. Especially when I think back to when I had my accident in April 2017.

“It was emotional and [special] having all my supporters there to see that.

“I’d really like to thank QBE for their ongoing support. They’ve been with me since the start of my journey. I feel really proud that I could make them proud as well.”
